Thule B24

Disclaimer:  Turning my trousers brown over this one.  Bigger expectations after the 2016 debut.

With my first ever 24hr solo MTB race giving me my first podium experience, expectations for 2017 are fierce….aiming to elevate my 4th overall to a podium place and my 3rd in category (male/veteran) a step up if I can.  Conditions will play a big part as I think the apocalyptic weather last year kept many in their pit tents.  Will train much harder this year….see how we go 😉

Half smile….half WTF. Still in the first 12hrs.

The B24 has been borne out of a vision that brings mountain biking, the town and the tracks together to create the ideal location for a 24hr race. With the race so close to town, the B24 provides the opportunity for competitors to tailor their weekend exactly how they would like it. The tracks around Bright are renowned as fantastic and the town is a well-established tourist destination for the whole family with a myriad of sights and activities to enjoy. BASE brings these things together to provide a professionally run event in a quality setting for riders and their entourage.

The race caters for everyone, from the elite solo rider, to the fun teams of 6. There is a race for the juniors and also a ground breaking category “Esprit de Corps”, for those that may like to ride with team mates and don’t necessarily like riding through the night.

The race headquarters is in Pioneer Park, which is a huge space with great amenities. There will be coffee, entertainment and food stalls, to keep everyone energised. We have the use of a very large marquee, which will be the hub of the race organisation / sponsors / transition. This will be alongside the catering areas and grandstand. The race will run from 12pm on Saturday to 12pm on Sunday, concluding with presentations & live tunes.
